JoAnn went upstairs with a headache so I get to play Vintage JoAnn for awhile.
Have you seen the AMC original show – MadMen? If not click here for the schedule.
According to the AMC MadMen website the premise of the show is “The series revolves around the conflicted world of Don Draper (Hamm), the biggest ad man (and ladies man) in the business, and his colleagues at the Sterling Cooper Advertising Agency. As Don makes the plays in the boardroom and the bedroom, he struggles to stay a step ahead of the rapidly changing times and the young executives nipping at his heels. The series also depicts authentically the roles of men and women in this era while exploring the true human nature beneath the guise of 1960s traditional family values.”
Why mention this show here? It tries to very accurately depict not only roles and values of the era but also the fashion. Having grown up in that era and being immersed in it here at the shop it seems very realistic to me. JoAnn has trouble watching it because of the way the women are treated.
What do you think of the show? Either the fashion specifically or any other aspect. Feel free to comment below.
Here are some pictures from the show.

If this is how men really treated women in the 60′s we HAVE come a log way babee! and still have a ways to go. I love the fashion though. Those bras could put an eye out.
Thanks for the comment IHeart!! Couldn’t agree with you more. Looks like Don’s in trouble after this week.

Here’s an interesting related post on the LA Times Blog – Is Joan on MadMen too plump for primetime?
I for one am tired of the stick figures populating popular media these days.
