rescuing old linens

by JoAnn

I spent a few enjoyable hours today ironing a pile of lovely vintage linens that I soaked and cleaned yesterday.

This indicates how crazy I am for vintage because I don’t iron anything I actually wear and my husband of 31 yrs has to send dress shirts to the cleaners to be ironed.

I bought the box of linens for $4.00 and it contained hankies, an antique christening dress, doilies, chrocheted potholders shaped like little dresses, dresser scarves, aprons, embroidered towels, and various other lovely pieces.

Everything was really dirty and much was stained. Some things were too far gone to be saved.

I know I’m nuts but I got so much satisfaction in starching and pressing these vintage treasures and watching them become beautiful again, ready to be appreciated by a customer in my shop.  The christening dress was added to my collection.

  1. Just wanted to let you know I have a new theme called Loop Rainbow… http://myblogit.net/2008/05/18/free-wordpress-theme-loopy-rainbow/

It comes in pink too! It’s an upgrade to the theme you are using.

  2. David,

I’ll definitely check it out. I had a lot of fun playing with this one to get it to match JoAnn’s personality and shop. This is my first blog site so the thing that would scare me about changing themes at this point is having to find and make all the changes again.
